Monday night’s car meet was the second impromptu event this year in Belmar.
Videos and photos shows hundreds of attendees and dozens of cars crowded around the 7-Eleven on Ocean Avenue at the beach, with cars bumping up and down and burning tire rubber.
In January, a similar car meet-up drew a large police presence and tickets were written for violations of local and motor-vehicle laws.
Judging from their online posts, fans weren't disappointed unless they violated motor vehicle and traffic laws.
“The Borough of Belmar and the Police Department were not aware of the event,” police said in a statement at the time.
Belmar police have been monitoring social media accounts of those known to publicize the meets and were aware that Monday’s event was going to take place, officials said.
